Yoga and Pelvic Health: An Educational Retreat for Professionals

May 5 -7, 2023 Quebec City, QC

Instructor: Shelly Prosko, PT, C-IAYT, PCAYT

Join Shelly Prosko, physiotherapist and yoga therapist, for a unique opportunity to gather together for this retreat-style educational course designed for pelvic health professionals.

In this course, you will learn yoga principles and practices that can be integrated into your clinical practice in an evidence-informed manner and within your professional scope of practice. The course will include engaging lectures, discussions, guided experiential practices, an abundance of resources, and a review of case studies focused on pelvic health rehabilitation and wellness care using a biopsychosocial-spiritual approach informed by yoga therapy.

Throughout the weekend you will be exploring and learning concepts and participating in techniques and reflections that can be shared with your patients in-person or virtually, and can also be enjoyed as your own well-deserved self-care.

You can expect to participate in gentle and inspiring practices including awareness, breathing, movement and mindfulness meditative practices; guided with the underlying theme of self-compassion.

As pelvic health professionals, you are in a strategic position to use yoga therapeutically. Yoga is one of the most popular complementary health practices and is increasingly becoming more recognized by healthcare organizations. It is being introduced into university rehabilitation programs and professional continuing education courses internationally, as growing research suggests that yoga therapy can be used as an effective and safe form of complementary therapy for numerous populations, including people with a variety of pelvic health conditions.

As such, this course serves as an introduction to the therapeutic use of yoga to improve outcomes and enhance the empowerment and self-efficacy in those struggling with various pelvic health issues, while at the same time addressing some of your own restorative needs.

The weekend at Le Monastère des Augustines includes 3-days, 2-nights accommodations, 4 nourishing meals, snacks, and some free-time for solitude or to further connect with colleagues.

Audience: pelvic health professionals, or any health/rehabilitation professionals interested in learning more about integrating yoga into rehabilitation with a keen interest in pelvic floor health and wellness care.

**No previous yoga experience is needed!**
