Integration of Yoga in Healthcare:  Hope and Possibility for People in Pain with Shelly Prosko, PT, CPI, C-IAYT

Thursday, Feb 27 @ 7 pm

College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan

Health Sciences E-Wing Room 1130

Yoga is one of the most popular complementary health practices in North America and is steadily gaining popularity as an effective approach used by healthcare professionals to help people with a variety of conditions including chronic pain. Yoga therapy offers a framework that is person-centered, empowering, compassionate, evidence-informed and includes addressing the whole person. Yoga techniques offer accessible, safe and cost-effective practices that can be integrated into any rehabilitation program in the clinic or used independently at home. A rapidly increasing number of clinicians and rehabilitation professionals are integrating yoga into pain care partly due to the growing evidence that shows yoga can improve patient outcomes, function and quality of life in many populations.
